An apple a day keeps the doctor away, so the old saying goes, but perhaps not the way Eddie Redmayne consumes them.
The 36-year-old actor popped into the BBC Radio 1 studios to chat with Greg James about “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”, and revealed that he used to eat apples, whole, including the seeds and core.

“I think it’s good for you that kind of fibrous nourishment,” said Redmayne, trying to convince a somewhat disgusted James.
“There’s cyanide in the pips!” James warned. “Don’t tell me that now,” the Oscar-winner responded, “… is there any sort of antidote, can you eat a pear?”
Redmayne went on to admit that his apple devouring habit came from a place of laziness. “I’m thinking it’s all about… I was too lazy as a kid to eat sweets without consuming their papers as well,” he confessed, claiming he ate Starburst with the wrappers on.

Elsewhere on the show, Redmayne talked about reprising his role as Newt in the “Fantastic Beasts” sequel and how much secrecy is involved when working on anything to do with J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.
“The whole thing is made with such secrecy, they create this almost like independent film vibe as you’re doing it, and it’s only as you start promoting them and you see people dressed up as Newt and Grindelwald and Harry… that you sort of reengage with how passionate people are about it.”
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” opens in theatres Friday 16 November.
