Cara Delevingne may have gone against the usual royal dress code at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, but she insists her friend was totally fine with whatever she wanted to wear.
Delevingne, 26, donned an Emporio Armani tuxedo, which she teamed with cigarette pants, pumps and a top hat for Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s big day back in October.
Despite admitting people came up to her to praise her for being “brave” for wearing such a thing, the model and actress insisted she felt more comfortable in something slightly different.
Delevingne told Grazia magazine, “Eugenie has been a friend of mine since I was a kid, and I’ve always wanted to wear tails.”
“I texted her, as I wasn’t sure about it, and she was like, ‘Of course, I expected nothing else from you!’” she added, according to Marie Claire.
The star continued, “I found it interesting how many people came up to me and said, ‘You’re so brave to wear that!’ I was like, ‘really? I feel way more comfortable like this.’”
Meghan Markle has also been known to stray away from traditional royal ensembles, with a source previously telling People that the Duchess “has found certain rules in the royal household difficult to understand.”
They continued, “Like the fact that the Queen prefers women in dresses or skirts rather than trouser suits, and is often asking Harry why things have to be done in a certain way.”
“I think she finds it a little frustrating at times, but this is her new life, and she has to deal with it.”
