Lil Xan is cancelling his upcoming appearances so he can go to rehab.
The rapper, real name Diego Leanos, 22, took to Instagram to let his fans know his plans.
“I just dropped out of SoundCloud Uni to go to rehab,” he captioned a photo of himself smoking. “I leave in like five days and I couldn’t be happier with this choice.”
He continued, “I love you guys for being so supportive and can’t wait to get back clean-headed ready to finish my album!”
The upcoming album, Xan says, is a tribute album to the late Mac Miller, who died in September.
In addition to his announcement on social media, Xan stopped by “TMZ Live” and chatted about this decision: “Rest in peace to Lil Peep, one-year anniversary. That was when it first started, when Lil Peep passed, he was one of my favourite artists and it was devastating the way he died, you know, it seems like all of it is just like fentanyl, fentanyl, fentanyl.”
“The worst one that affected me the most, Mac Miller,” he continued. “It hit too close to home so… and I know we both struggle with the same problems and stuff and I just feel like it’s time to get, you know, better.”
It was revealed earlier this month that Miller had died from mixed drug toxicity (fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol).
Xan says he’s battling an addiction to hydrocodone and “a lot of opioids.”
