Michael Buble is officially a star.
The 43-year-old Canadian singer was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony in California on Friday.
An emotional Buble had plenty of praise for his friends and family who gathered by his side.
“My wife… there’s nothing really I can say that can express how I feel about her and what we’ve been through,” the singer says, wiping away tears. “She’s my hero and my rock. My children, who have given me a purpose for life, and have made days like this even sweeter because I can truly understand how beautiful the good moments are.”
The family had a difficult stretch after their son, Noah, was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Now at age 5, Noah is in remission.
“The longer I live, the more I realize that love isn’t free,” Buble adds. “Love has a great cost. The more you love, the more you hurt. The greater chance of suffering and pain and when I woke up this morning I thought of that because, for all of those people that have loved me and supported me through the good times and the bad, I would risk that love a million times over for all of you.”
Priscilla Presley and David Foster helped honour the singer, on the heels of Buble’s latest album release Love.
Since he helped launch Buble’s career, it is fitting that Foster’s own star is around the corner from the crooner’s.
Immediately following the ceremony, Buble spoke with ET Canada about the honour.
“I think I found great joy in realizing that this was this opportunity to share this accolade with all of these beautiful people. And then, to look out and see my wife, and to see my mom and dad, Foster… and to see all of the people who built me into who I am, was really rewarding for me,” he says.
“Everyday means something,” he adds. “It’s the little things. And I know that might sound silly, but the record’s out today, the star, I’m about to go to a restaurant and tonight we’re gonna watch a movie, and it’s all the little things. I think you try your best to be in the moment and be grateful because those little things are everything and some of those small things you sweat are just the small things.”
And of course, Canada honoured one of our favourite Canadian crooners, Buble, with a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame back in November 2015.
