Jenelle Evans’ husband David Eason is getting a lot of heat on Instagram.
The controversy started after the “Teen Mom 2” star posted a series of photographs of himself posing with the Confederate flag at the Grand Canyon.
“Just planting my flag in all 50 states!” he captioned the pics.
Eason shared another post with the flag, this time a video filmed by Evans. “Oh, that’s awesome,” she can be heard saying in the background.
But when fans began to question his reasoning for carrying the controversial flag — which is widely considered to symbolize racism — Eason defended himself.
“It’s just where I’m from, my heritage. Kind of like when people fly a flag that represents their state because it’s where they are from,” he responded to a fan who asked what the flag means to him. “If someone thinks it has to do with racism or slaves they aren’t thinking enough. More racist people fly the beloved American flag, which was the flag flying on the American slave ships… No concern there?”
The controversy comes less than a month after Eason posed with the flag once again, and just days before Evans called the police alleging her husband assaulted her.
Despite the police phone call TMZ obtained, Evans later denied her accusations, telling her YouTube channel she was “completely fine.”
Evans and Eason have been married since 2017.
