Zayn Malik has gone Bollywood and his fans are loving it!
The former One Direction star dropped a special treat on his social media accounts on Tuesday: a cover of Hindi song “Allah Duhai Hai” from the Salman Khan-starring “Race 3”.
The track, which has featured in all three “Race” movies, has been given an updated EDM-style beat but Malik doesn’t stray too far from the original, choosing to sing the lyrics in Hindi.
The British-Pakistani singer has been vocal in the past about his love of Bollywood. In February, he told Elle India that he grew up watching films such as “Devdas” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and that Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dil Se” was his favourite song.
He also talked about the South Asian influences on his new album. “There’s definitely a lot of Urdu, some nice qawwali sounds,” he revealed. “There might even be some bhangra vibes. I have worked with A.R. Rahman on one song.”
This isn’t the first time Malik has recorded a cover of a Hindi song. In April, the “Pillowtalk” hitmaker shared a video of himself on Instagram singing Kailash Kher’s classic “Teri Deewani”, though he later removed the post after some fans mocked his Hindi pronunciation.
His new cover of “Allah Duhai Hai” however is receiving high praise.
