Barack Obama is making the most of the holiday season.
The former POTUS made a surprise visit to a local shelter in his hometown of Chicago on Wednesday to lend a hand.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository tweeted a video from Obama’s visit, in which he can be seen bagging potatoes ahead of Thursday’s big holiday.
“We believe no one should go hungry, especially this time of year, and that’s why we’re working to address the root causes of hunger in Chicago and Cook County,” the food bank captioned the video.
“Thanks to the Chicago Food Depository team for all you do and to the volunteers who are doing great work and let me crash today,” Obama said of his time at the organization. “Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!”
He added, “I am grateful for the next generation of leaders — the young people who are tolerant, creative, idealistic and doing the work to create the world as it should be. Who understand that hope requires action.”
Meanwhile, current President Donald Trump is golfing at his exclusive Mar-a-Lago club in Florida where he, wife Melania and son Barron will spend the holiday, as they did last year.
In 2018, Trump and his family delivered pre-packaged sandwiches, chips and fruit to U.S. Coast Guard members in Riviera Beach, Florida.
Actress Alyssa Milano — a vocal critic of Trump and his policies — also shared the food bank’s video on Twitter, putting a mocking twist on the president’s campaign slogan by writing, “Look at Barack Obama making America great again.”
