Hollywood A-listers lent their star power to benefit the Malibu community destroyed by the Woolsey fire, and earned some big money to help victims of the blaze.
The Malibu Foundation and One Love Malibu scheduled the One Love Malibu Festival on Sunday, Dec. 2 to benefit the reconstruction of Malibu, reporting that the festival raised nearly $1 million for the Malibu Foundation, with the money to be used “to support programs in regions impacted by the Woolsey Fire, including Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks, West Hills, Calabasas, Malibu and other areas.
The festival enlisted music powerhouses including Katy Perry, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Gwen Stefani, Robin Thicke, and members of Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Other performers included Macy Gray, Natasha Bedingfield, Brandi Carlile, Angel Haze, Dorothy and Rita Wilson.
A portion of the festival also included a silent auction with sought-after items like a Jony Ive specially designed Apple product.
One hundred percent of the proceeds and donations will go towards helping those uninsured and/or living paycheque to paycheque, as well as animal refuge and care, and rebuilding efforts.
