Kyrie Irving didn’t hold back his thoughts on Thanksgiving this week.
The Boston Celtics’ guard took to Twitter after losing to the New York Knicks (117-109) sharing his hate for one of the biggest American national holidays.
In a now-deleted post, Irving wrote, “I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving… Fuck Thanksgiving.”
After receiving backlash, the All-Star basketball player, who is part Native American through his late mother, took back his comments.
“I spoke with frustration after last night’s game and spoke words that shouldn’t be in a professional setting no matter what,” Irving wrote on Thursday morning.
He added, “Meant no disrespect to the holiday and those who celebrate it respectfully. I’m grateful for the time we all can share with our families. We are always ONE.”
The Boston Celtics have yet to comment.
