There’s a new top dog in town!
On Nov. 22, Whiskey the Whippet was crowned Best in Show at the 17th Annual National Dog Show.
The pup bested over 2,000 dogs from 192 breeds to claim the top prize which was held in 2017 by Newton the Brussels Griffon.
Whiskey may have come out on top, but his win wasn’t without some stiff competition. Other contenders included Billy the Lhasa Apso, Irupe the Doberman Pinscher, Bogie the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Ducky the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Bella the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and King the Wire Fox Terrier.
It’s safe to say that Whiskey, who’s actually registered under the name GCHP Pinnacle Tennessee Whiskey, wouldn’t have been ranked top hound if it wasn’t for the help of his owner Justin Smithey of Sugar Valley, Georgia.
“He has been showing for about a year-and-a-half. He’s the No. 1 hound in the country. He’s had a fabulous year,” Chelsea, Smithey’s wife told People after his big win.
Whiskey now has a whopping 20 Best in Show titles to his name. Talk about a talented pooch!
