Disney has finally released the first trailer for the live action and CGI reboot of “The Lion King” movie.
The highly anticipated film, starring the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Beyonce and more, follows the original 1994 critically acclaimed animated feature and will highlight many of the iconic moments.
The brand-new trailer opens on pride rock as the beloved characters, including Simba, Rafiki and Mufasa, return.
“Everything the light touches is our kingdom,” says Mufasa (James Earl Jones, reprising his role from the original) in a voiceover, as viewers get a glimpse of the African wilderness.
After Mufasa’s reminiscent words, we even get to hear an updated portion of “Circle Of Life”. If Disney is tracking the numbers — and you can bet they are — the box office prospects of “The Lion King” look promising. The teaser was viewed more than 224 million times in one day. That is a record for Disney!
Keegan Michael-Key, John Oliver, Eric Andre, Billy Eichner and John Kani also lend their voices in the flick. “The Lion King” roars into theatres July 19, 2019.
Another animated classic to get the live action treatment is “Dumbo”, see below.
