Alexander Ludwig gave some “Vikings” fans a monumental surprise by pranking them on Instagram Friday.
The 26-year-old, who plays Bjorn Lothbrok on the much-loved series, dressed up as “Craig the boom operator” to hide his identity from unsuspecting “Vikings” lovers.
Ludwig explained how the fans in question thought they were shooting an online promo for the upcoming season. He added that everyone was “such good sports” on the day.

Hi my name is Craig the boom operator…and we’re gonna prank some #vikings fans who thought they were coming to shoot an online promo for the next season but we had other plans….#november28 this is a little behind the scene clip of what we had in store. was a riot and everyone was such good sports.
Ludwig’s prank comes after he chatted with ET Canada’s Carlos Bustamante and spilled the beans on what’s in store for his character Bjorn with the arrival of Rollo in the new series.
“You’ll definitely see some very weird character dynamics between the two,” he explained.
“I don’t want to give too much away. You’re definitely going to see a showdown for sure. It might be with who you expect. Or it might be with exactly who you expect but I will say that this season 5B for me was the most creatively fulfilling to shoot. I just had so much to do with Bjorn and, I mean, the end of 5B is pretty insane.”
“Vikings” returns on Nov. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on History Canada.
