Jimmy Kimmel and ABC are in negotiations for the Jimmy Kimmel Live host to work his magic on one of television’s biggest award shows as host of this year’s Emmys.
Variety reports that the 48-year-old is an obvious choice for ABC, as 2016 will be the network’s turn to broadcast the event due the wheel system that sees the telecast rotating each year between the big four networks, ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX.
This won’t be Kimmel’s first rodeo, as he was host the last time ABC took its turn airing the show in 2012. Variety previously gave Kimmel a great review at the time, describing him as “that rare example of a host who seemed to get better as the night wore on.”;
The award ceremony will once again be taped in downtown Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre. The Television Academy has yet to set a date for this year’s awards, but they’ll likely take place in September.
