One incredibly lucky man nearly scored a $7.5 million return on a $500 investment.

“Storage Wars” star Dan Dotson was recently informed about a nearly impossible end to what he believed was a simple transaction. Dotson was approached by a woman at a charity event on Nov. 1. That woman was family friends with a man who purchased a storage unit from Dotson for $500.

Inside the unit was a safe. The “Storage Wars” star said safes found in storage units are typically empty. Not this one. Dotson was informed the safe contained $7.5 million in cash! “The first person they called to open the safe, I guess, couldn’t, or didn’t,” Dotson recalled in a video posted to Facebook on Nov. 5. “So they called a second person.”

According to the woman, the new owner of the storage unit was immediately contacted by an attorney representing the original owners of the unit.

The man was offered $600,000 in return for the cash in the safe, but the offer was quickly doubled to $1.2 million.

Ultimately, the man agreed to return the $7.5 million cash in return for $1.2 million. All-in-all, the gentleman turned a $500 investment into nearly $1.5 million. Not bad for a day’s work.
