NASA’s InSight Lander has arrived on the surface of Mars and it’s brought punk rock with it.
The robotic lander, which is designed to the deep interior of the planet, carries a chip with the words “Green Day Since 1986” etched on it, referring band’s formation.
Green Day commemorated the big event, tweeting a pictures of a NASA “boarding pass” and stating that they had “officially landed on Mars.”
The lander, which was launched on May 5, 2018, will spend two years on Mars collecting data.
Green Day fans also celebrating them on Twitter as “the first band on Mars.”
