Jimmy Fallon is doing a good deed.
“The Tonight Show” host surprised two audience members with a life-changing announcement on Tuesday’s episode of the popular late-night talk show.
Divya and Terry McArthur believed they had won free tickets to the show. They were not prepared for what was to come. Fallon, 44, sought out the North Carolina couple and introduced them to the World.
The McArthur’s family home, which was left to Divya by her grandmother, was ravaged by hurricanes Florence and Matthew. Divya was overwhelmed with emotion as she told Fallon about their predicament.
That is when Fallon revealed The Home Depot Foundation will repair the entire home and bring in a designer to completely renovate the house at no cost.
“I heard him, but I didn’t really grasp it because I was really in shock,” Divya later told People. “You see things like this on TV, but you never expect for it to happen to you. It feels like a dream. Our lives will never be the same.”
“I’ve been asked by people who are close to me, ‘Why would you go back?’” she explained. “Because it’s my home. I grew up in this house. My grandmother left it to me. She put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this house. I’m emotionally tied to it, but it’s also an obligation.”
The Home Depot Foundation has committed nearly $5 million for disaster relief in 2018 for areas affected by fires, hurricanes and flooding.
