Richard Madden is the flavour of the week when it comes to the next James Bond.
The “Game of Thrones” actor’s critically acclaimed performance on “Bodyguard” has reportedly caught the eye of “007” producer Barbara Broccoli.
“This is what happens with all these shows, like Tom Hiddleston in ‘The Night Manager’,” he told GQ when asked about the potential of being the next Bond. “Then there’s the next one. I’m the next one. Everyone just loves the rumour mill on that topic. I’m just the current one. There’ll be a different one next week.”
Madden, 32, is not wrong. Everyone from Tom Hiddleston to Idris Elba has been tapped as the next Bond since current star Daniel Craig wrapped up his duties with “Spectre”. Ultimately, the producers were able to muster enough cash to keep Craig around for 2020’s “Bond 25”.
“I’m more than flattered to be mentioned, for people to consider putting me in that role,” Madden told the magazine. That does not mean Madden would not love to play the suave superspy. “I don’t want to curse anything by saying anything. I think that’s the curse of that. If you talk about it, you’ll curse it.”
The publication also had Madden rewatch and break down the “Game of Thrones” scene that shocked and horrified television fans worldwide: the Red Wedding. He revealed some interesting tidbits about the scene, from arrows sticking out of his body to litres of fake blood pumping out of his costume.
Time is ticking for Bond producers to find a new face for the franchise. Could it be Madden?
