Mariah Carey is facing some unexpected backlash after she shared a sweet video of her adorable twins singing one of her biggest hits.
In a video she posted on social media on Wednesday, the 48-year-old diva is seen with 7-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan (whom she shares with ex Nick Cannon), with the threesome putting their own unique spin on her holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.
“Roc & Roe have been practicing the background vocals to ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, we’re gonna take this one step at a time – we’re very excited about it! It’s our first video doing this! It’s festive, Cmon!!” wrote Carey in the caption, along with an assortment of holiday emojis.
And while there’s no denying how cute it is, some sharp-eyed viewers noticed a glaring omission: seatbelts, as in neither mother nor children were wearing them, despite being inside a moving vehicle.
It didn’t take long before the Twitterverse chimed in, reminding Carey that (as one user put it) “seatbelts save lives,” while tossing in a healping helping of mommy-shaming along the way. Check out this sampling of comments from (as another user puts it) “the Twitter police.”
