Hollywood’s stars came together in support of those who lost their lives and homes in the Woosley fire.
Katy Perry and Gwen Stefani were among the A-Listers who performed at the One Love Malibu Festival benefit concert on Sunday.
“Everyone stepping up here today shows that we’re resilient,” said state Senator Henry Stern, D-Calabasas, according to ABC 7 News. “And it’s moving. These artists are so generous, the people who came out and made this concert happen. It’s a big lift.”
Canadian-American singer Robin Thicke kicked things off with some holiday cheer, performing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
Celebrities from other facets of entertainment like Orlando Bloom and Demi Moore were also in attendance. In fact, one of the auction prizes was a motorcycle ride with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Lord of the Rings” actor, which ended up being won by his girlfriend Perry.
Perry jumped on stage during the auction to encourage fans to bid on “the man I’m dating that I love and respect” and she even threw in the offer of free lunch.
“You get to hold on to Orlando for about 45 minutes. … And then, you get to stare into his brown eyes!” she said.
A fan, Laura, eventually placed a $20,000 bid on the Bloom bike ride, to which Perry seemed excited about. “Yay! I don’t know who you are, but stan for my man!” the “Bon Appétit” singer shouted.
Sadly for Laura, things took a turn when Perry upped the bid. “Laura, I’m sorry — I’m buying it for $50,000,” she said, before exiting the stage.
“Sold — to the lady in the red leather skirt!” the auctioneer declared.
The event was organized by the Malibu Foundation and was held at the King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas.
