Easily the strangest, most awkward moment at tonight’s Academy Awards was the appearance of Stacey Dash, with host Chris Rock introducing her as the new Academy Director of Diversity Outreach (the former Clueless star is now a commentator on right-wing Fox News, has been a vocal opponent of the #OscarsSoWhite backlash, joking that the the BET Awards is just as racist for not nominating white people).
Dash walked onstage for a few quick moments, and wished everyone a happy Black History month.
To say the bit fell flat is an understatement, and an insult to actual flat things such as paper and pancakes.
Dash explained her presence at the Oscar’s in a lengthy blog post, outlining her contrarian position.
As you’d expect, Dash’s unfunny moment did not escape the scrutiny of the Twitterverse, which lashed out with its typical hilarious fury:
