She may have been known as one half of an A-list Hollywood couple, but Jenna Dewan wants people around the world to know that she’s still the same – or an even better – version of herself post-split.
In the January issue of Cosmopolitan, Dewan gets candid about her very public split from ex-husband Channing Tatum.
“I didn’t run away from my feelings. I let myself cry. I let myself grieve,” she recalls. “This is one of those situations where I will see the light. The dawn is coming.”
Even though she’s not with Tatum anymore, Dewan says she does realize that’s where some of her fame stems from.
“I’m obviously super aware that people know me, they know Channing, they know us together. We’d been a beloved couple for a long time,” she says.
“I was in Berlin and people were like, ‘We love your Lip Sync Battle!’ I was like, ‘oh my God. You mean the time when I humped my husband-at-the-time’s face?’ I’m so glad that’s my calling card,” she adds.
Although she went through the difficult breakup, the 38-year-old isn’t letting past heartbreak spoil the idea of falling in love.
“I do believe in love still, but I also believe it begins with really digging deep and learning how to love yourself. And then I think you sort of transmute that out to attract the right partner,” Dewan tells the magazine. “I think that people who are meant to be sort of find each other.”
