Penelope Cruz teams up with PETA to urge people to ditch the fur in the organization’s latest advert.
Cruz, 44, who appeared in an anti-fur ad for PETA back in 2012, can be seen cradling a kitten in the campaign image.
The pic includes the words: “Make Us Purr. Don’t Wear Fur.”
The image follows a recent decision by top fashion designers and retailers – including Burberry, Gucci, Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg, John Galliano, and many others – to go 100 percent fur-free.
The actress explains in a press release: “Finally, so many designers are going fur-free, and I’m looking forward to the day when no animal is caged or trapped and killed for fur.”
She also shares: “I’m strong and opinionated. Those qualities brought me a lot of problems since I was a little girl in school, saying, ‘I don’t agree,’ and fighting with the children. It’s part of my curiosity for life.”
Cruz joins a growing list of celebrities who have slammed the fur industry, with the likes of Eva Mendes, Charlize Theron, Taraji P. Henson, Ireland Basinger-Baldwin, Pink, Jhene Aiko and Kate del Castillo all urging people to protect animals.
