Willow Smith did not have as much fun with “Whip My Hair” as the listeners did.
The 18-year-old singer, dancer and actress opened up to her mom Jada Pinkett Smith in a new episode of her Facebook series “Red Table Talk”.
“I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times,” Willow admitted. “It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.”
“I had to forgive myself because I felt guilty because everyone is trying to make me better, trying to make my dream,” she continued. “But I didn’t really understand what my dream entailed.”
Willow never dove into the specifics of how her parents, particularly her father Will, were treating her. Earlier this year, Willow revealed to her mom, and her grandma, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, how she briefly committed self-harm while struggling with her newfound fame.
Willow was only 10-years-old when “Whip My Hair” took over the radio waves.
