Tyler Perry just did an amazing thing for people struggling to pay the bills this Christmas.
The Madea creator and actor took to Twitter with a video revealing a good deed he had originally hoped to keep anonymous, “but you know how nothing stays secret these days.”
Perry then told watchers that if they had any items on layaway at two Walmart locations around Atlanta, their payments have been almost completely taken care of.
According to Global News, Walmart has confirmed that Perry paid off $432,635 worth of strangers’ layaway items at the two locations.
Walmart also expressed thanks to Perry on Twitter, writing, “Anonymous or not, we hope you know that you just made Christmas for so many families. You went above and beyond.”
As Perry explained, he paid off the bills for all items under layaway before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, and all people have to do is go into the Walmart location and pay a single penny.
“I know it’s hard times, a lot of people are struggling,” Perry said. “I’m just really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this. So God bless you, go get your stuff. Merry Christmas!”
Followers on Twitter responded by applauding and thanking Perry for his generous gift.
