UPDATE: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer Sets New 24-Hour Viewing Record With 289 Million YouTube Views

The first trailer has finally dropped for the fourth “Avengers” movie, and the popular Marvel series appears to be heading towards an emotional conclusion.

Details regarding the film have been kept secret following the dramatic cliffhanger to “Avengers: Infinity War” but now we have our first taste of what to expect, including a title — “Avengers: Endgame” — and a tagline: “Part of the journey is the end.”

The trailer focuses on Robert Downey Jr’s character Tony Stark, who looks to he hanging up his Iron Man boots. The clip also features Chris Evans’ Captain America and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, who are left to pick up the pieces of Thanos’ destruction.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man provides some comic relief in the closing moments of the preview as he tries to offer his help to the remaining Avengers.

Anthony and Joe Russo will return to direct the upcoming sequel, as well as “Infinity War” screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Joe recently revealed that the runtime of the next “Avengers” movie is about three hours.

Interest in the trailer was through the roof, with Marvel Studios tweeting on Saturday that the “Endgame” trailer broke the record for the most views within a 24-hour period, watched 289 million times to beat the previous record-holder — which just happens to be the trailer for the film’s predecessor, “Avengers: Infinity War”.

“Avengers: Endgame” will be released May 3, 2019.
