The rock legend unveiled Friday newly discovered footage from a 1973 TV performance of “Step Into Christmas”.

The performance hasn’t been seen since it was originally broadcast on “The Gilbert O’Sullivan Show”.

The rare footage was unearthed after being lost for decades in the ITV archives and features John’s classic lineup — Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson — plus a cameo from songwriting partner Bernie Taupin on percussion.

The original recording of “Step Into Christmas” was included in last year’s Elton John box set Diamonds; this year the song is being put out as a three-track digital EP along with the “Gilbert O’Sullivan” performance and “Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who’d Be A Turkey At Christmas)” as B-sides.
