Filmdom’s nastiest high school students will be heading to the stage now that Tina Fey confirms that she’s working on a Mean Girls musical, adapting the Lindsay Lohan-starring screen comedy (which she wrote) for the Broadway stage.

During a New York Times panel series at Manhattan’s Florence Gould Hall on Wednesday evening, reports Huffington Post, Fey confirmed that she and her husband Jeff Richmond (a composer whose work includes the 30 Rock theme) and lyricst Neil Benjamin “have been working on it.”;
While the sold-out crowd reportedly cheered, Fey joked the musical was still “years away.”;

The previous day, she also talked about the musical during a visit to The Howard Stern Show. “I don’t like plays,”; admitted the Broadway-phobic Stern, “but I think I’d go see Mean Girls: The Musical.”;
