Mariah Carey made a unique piece of history.
The iconic singer’s 1994 Christmas classic Merry Christmas returned to the top spot on Billboard‘s R&B charts. The album’s renewed success is due in large part to the timeless holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas is You”.
Carey’s chart-topping achievement did not come without consequence. By topping the R&B chart with Merry Christmas, she knocked her latest album Caution out of the number one spot.
The five-time Grammy winner’s 15th studio album, which was released on Nov. 16, slid down to number eight.
“All I Want for Christmas” is also celebrating atop Billboard‘s first-ever Holiday 100 chart.
“The Queen of Christmas” is currently on a European Christmas tour. It kicked off on the first of December.
