Malcolm-Jamal Warner On Bill Cosby: I Won’t Throw Him Under The Bus

By Brent Furdyk.

In an upcoming interview on daytime talk show The Real, Malcolm-Jamal Warner gets real about his former TV dad, discussing the pariah status that has engulfed Bill Cosby since more than 5o women have accused the comedy icon of drugging and raping them.

As the former Theo Huxtable sees it, there’s a clear “unbalanace”; from the fact that The Cosby Show has been yanked off television while the work of other scandal-engulfed celebrities as Roman Polanski (who’s been a fugitive since the 1970s after being charged with having sex with a 13-year-old girl) and Woody Allen (who had an affair with and later married the adopted daughter of then-girlfriend Mia Farrow) is still played on television.

“Because the show was taken off the air, it’s literally taking money out of my pocket,”; says Warner, who receives residual cheques when reruns air.

“But even outside of that, you just look at how the media is playing this whole thing out, and I can’t help but think about Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Stephen Collins, where it’s very clear the crimes they’ve committed, but there’s no one calling for Woody’s movies to be pulled off the air, or Roman Polanski is still celebrated,”; says Warner.

“It’s just very unbalanced. They’re trying to take Mr. Cosby’s star off the Hollywood Walk of Fame,”; he adds, “and I am in no position to defend him, because I can’t. But nor will I throw him under the bus.”;

The interview is set to air Monday on The Real.
