Jude Law And More ‘Captain Marvel’ Character Spoilers: What We Know So Far…

Fans eagerly anticipating “Captain Marvel” may have gotten a spoilerific peek at who Jude Law is playing in the film.

In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, the first with a solo female lead, Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers was thought to have been mentored by Law’s character, who Variety confirmed last year would be playing Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, the commander of Starforce and the original Captain Marvel character from the comics.

All may not be as it seems, though.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!

In what appears to have been a leak posted on Reddit recently, an image showing off the line of “Captain Marvel”-inspired Funko Pops! toy figurines showed the toy version of Law’s character, but the box art showed his name as Yon-Rogg.

Funko’s official press release for the toys changed Law’s toy somewhat from the leak and listed the character’s name as, simply, “Star Commander”.

If the leak is correct, though, it may spell some trouble for Danvers as Yon-Rogg is a traitorous Kree military commander who may be in league with the other film’s villain Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace, to steal the Kree throne.

The potential twist has also added to speculation about who the real Mar-Vell in the film might be, and whether it may in fact be Danvers herself.

The official press release from Funko does confirm a few other details from the film, including that Danvers will also go by her Kree name Vers in the film.

Also getting Funko Pops! toys from the film are the characters Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, Maria Rambeau, played by Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson’s MCU stalwart Nick Fury and the fun addition of Goose the Cat.

“Captain Marvel” is out in theatres March 8, 2019 to reveal all the twists and turns Marvel’s got up its sleeves. Until then watch Law’s reaction to the new “Captain Marvel” trailer when Keshia Chante caught up with him to talk “Vox Lux” last week (at the top) and see what he told us during TIFF (above).
