Oprah Winfrey is looking back at the viral moment from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” when she ate unseasoned chicken.
The hilarious segment from a 2006 episode of the show, that sees Winfrey tasting an award-winning chicken dish made by a viewer, has resurfaced and Oprah herself is revealing what she was thinking in that moment.
Twitter user Spencer Althouse brought the clip out from the vault and it quickly went viral.
“Did we add salt and pepper?” Oprah politely asked the contest winner. “I think we needed salt and pepper.”
Anna Ginsberg, the winner who received $1 million for her dish replied, “You can add it in yourself.
But when Althouse’s tweet made it to Winfrey, she explained what exactly was going through her mind 12 years ago.
“So I was having a moment of trying to decide: Do I want her to have a great time? What is my real moment of truth?” she said. “Because the truth for me was that I’m used to having salt and pepper on my chicken. That’s just the truth… that’s what I was thinking, ‘This chicken needs some salt and pepper.'”
The tweet has gotten over 60,000 retweets and over 5 million views since it was posted.
