Canada’s biggest stars gathered Wednesday night in Toronto to celebrate the best in Canadian television and digital media.

Some of the night’s biggest winners included “The Book of Negroes,” which took home a total of nine awards; “Schitt’s Creek” winning six prizes; and “Orphan Black” nabbing a total of five statues on the star-studded night.

CBC’s masterpiece “The Book of Negroes” won top honours for best costume design, best cross-platform project, best direction in a limited series, and best original score. Actors Lyriq Bent, Shailyn Pierre-Dixon, and Aunjanue Ellis, meanwhile, were also recognized for their moving performances in the popular Canadian mini-series.

Notable prizes awarded to the CBC’s “Schitt’s Creek” included Chris Elliott and Emily Hampshire’s wins for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and Dan Levy’s top honour for Best Writing in a Comedy Series.

The long-running show “Degrassi” took home four Canadian Screen Awards under the Children’s or Youth Program category, including Best Series, Best Direction, Best Performance and Best Writing.
