Stephen Colbert took a swipe at Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Monday’s “Late Show”.
Colbert pointed out that Trump now faces 17 known investigations after a Senate Intelligence Committee report was leaked over the weekend.
The talk-show host joked that Trump would say, “No other president has had more big, beautiful investigations, okay?” before discussing Russia’s influence on the 2016 election, as outlined in the leaked document.
After playing a clip of Giuliani insisting collusion was not a crime, Colbert quipped: “What does he mean, ‘Collusion is not a crime’?
“I understand that the actual technical name is called ‘conspiracy to defraud the United States.’ That’s like saying, ‘My client is accused of murdering his neighbour but he merely stabbed him in the aorta with a fondu fork. Fondu forking is not a crime, your honour.’”
Colbert also poked fun at Trump calling “Saturday Night Live” a “Democrat spin machine.”
The presenter joked, “Mr. President, you might not like ‘Saturday Night Live’ but that’s not a crime. What are Donald Trump’s Yelp reviews like? ‘The service was slow and the minestrone was too salty. Murder?’”
