Nina Dobrev is the picture of happiness on the cover of the upcoming Women’s Health, out Dec. 25.
In the January/February 2019 issue, the former “Vampire Diaries” star opens up about her fitness regimen, revealing she “just got visible abs for the first time in her life,” and admits the pressure she feels to start a family.
In an interview with the magazine, Dobrev discusses how she will focus all her energy to having a family, when the time comes.
“I can and will definitely have both [career and family]. I’m still working on me,” she says. “When I do have a family, I can focus my full energy on that, but I’m not ready for it yet.”
The actress admits her mother is the one pushing her to start a family.
“In 10 years, hopefully, I will be – for my mom’s sake,” the 29-year-old star says. “My mom wanted me to have a baby 10 years ago. She gets me baby clothes for Christmas every year. She’s like ‘Hint, hint, nudge, nudge!’”
Find out what other “passive aggressive” things her mother did to try to convince her to have children sooner than later:
Dobrev tells Women’s Health how the role of diet and exercise have changed in her life.
“I’m getting older and more conscious of what I eat and how I eat it and what I do,” she says. “Doing something different [when working out each day] has been the most fun, and I’ve seen the most benefit because you shock your system.”
She says eating every two hours has helped her: “I feel healthier. You’re happier when your body is full, your brain functions better, and you’re a nicer person.”
“I need to sweat every single day somehow, even if it’s just in the steam room.”
On the brink of turning 30, her milestone is on Jan. 9, and after leaving her role as Elena Gilbert on the supernatural show “The Vampire Diaries” in 2015, the actress tells the magazine she is now focused on what makes her the happiest in life.
“I was like, ‘Why am I here? What am I doing? Is it making me happy? What can I do to make me happier?” she admits.
The actress will be returning to acting to star in the television show “Fam”, set to premiere in January 2019 and it is the furthest thing from high school drama and vampires.
