Worldwide headlines were made when Jason Momoa shared an anecdote about having some trouble making “poopsies” in his “Aquaman” costume, but the 39-year-old actor wants everyone to know he was just joking.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly about the new superhero flick, Momoa quipped that his character’s costume did not really lend itself to answering nature’s call.

“It looks like it’s easy to pee in, but really, it’s not,” he said. “And if you have the poopsies, it is very challenging. You’ve gotta be really good at holding it.”

However, in a subsequent interview with Huffpost, he admitted he was not impressed to see his comment become the source for news reports for outlets including CNN.

“That is the dumbest thing,” he said, admitting he’s “mad at [Entertainment Weekly] because it was a joke, you knuckleheads. Like, of course I can go to the bathroom.”

This led the HuffPost interviewer to ask how Momoa thinks the underwater denizens of Atlantis actually do go to the bathroom.

“Yeah, that’s a great question,” he replied. “I have no idea, but you should definitely ask. I wouldn’t know because I don’t live there.”

Upon learning the interviewer would be speaking with his “Aquaman” co-star Amber Heard, he responded, “Ask her. And then change my quote with EW. I can definitely go poopsies just fine. There’s no problem with my suit.”

Added Momoa: “I’m like, really? Is that what gets published?”

For the record, Heard was posed that question, and while she admitted she didn’t know for sure, she guessed, “However fish go to the restroom, I imagine.”
