Chris Brown has reportedly got himself into trouble with the law once again.
Brown, 29, could be facing six months in jail after failing to get a proper permit to own his pet monkey Fiji, according to TMZ. The website stated the Los Angeles City Attorney has charged Brown with “two counts of having a restricted species without a permit.”
TMZ then reported that law enforcement sources confirmed the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife had launched an investigation before Brown “voluntarily agreed to surrender the pet.” He’s now due in court Feb. 6.
The L.A. City Attorney’s office confirmed on Thursday that Brown was charged with two counts due to his possession of a pet capuchin monkey, per Associated Pressthe .
The news comes after the musician shared a video of his then-three-year-old daughter Royalty playing with the pet. Fans criticized Brown at the time for letting the exotic animal near the little one.
