Michelle Obama is joining forces with a star-studded crew of hit makers to propel her message of female empowerment.
Teaming up with the likes of Missy Elliot, Janelle Monae, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland, Kelly Clarkson and Lea Michele, the First Lady of America has spearheaded a new female power anthem ready to take the radio waves by storm.
Titled, “This Is For My Girls,” Obama released the Diane Warren-penned track at midnight in support of the Let Girls Learn initiative and #62MillionGirls campaign, which both promote the completion of young girls’ education rates around the world.

“This is for my girls, all around the world / Stand up, pull your head up / Don’t take nothing from nobody…”; Elliot raps in the empowering chorus.
Obama delivered a keynote speech at SXSW Thursday morning where she and song collaborators Elliot and Warren, as well as Queen Latifah and Sophia Bush, spoke about the girl power single.
“It happened so fast—literally, Kelly Clarkson was singing her part in Nashville while we were almost mastering it,” Warren said at SXSW as she recalled the recording process. “So we dropped her vocals in. It was that crazy.”
