He may play a firefighter on screen, but it turns out that Taylor Kinney is also a real-life hero off-screen.

While visiting his home state of Pennsylvania, the “Chicago Fire” star helped out a man named Cary Ahl after his tire completely blew out on Christmas Eve.

In an interview with Lancaster Online, locals Chris and Aimee Kurtz were on their way to a store to do some last-minute Christmas shopping when they noticed a sedan pulled over on the side of the road with its tire completely destroyed and a pickup truck parked ahead of it.

“I had noticed that a gentleman had come out of the pickup truck and took his cowboy hat off,” Chris Kurtz told the Lancaster Online. “He walked up to the guy slowly… there it was, Taylor Kinney, just helping.”

After arriving with his wife Amy, Chris explained that the 37-year-old actor offered to take Ahl’s busted tire in his pickup truck and keep him company while he waited for an alternate ride home.

“He kind of — just like Santa Claus — kind of left off into the sunset, kind of,” Kurtz expressed. “He put his hat back on, made sure the guy was ok and then left.”

To see more of Kinney in action on-screen, tune-in to new episodes of “Chicago Fire” on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
