“Everyone, you’ve been waiting long for a long time, yes?” he wrote. “I have finally dropped my self-produced track. This is a song for myself but this is also a song for you guys. This is my first time, so it’s a bit raw, but please listen to it. Thank you ARMYs for having waited patiently.”

The track was a complete and unequiviocal streaming success. It generated more than 8.5 million Soundcloud streams in 24-hours, crushing the previous 4.9 million record held by Drake, according to Forbes.

As NME reports, “Promise” was composed by Jimin and BTS producer Slow Rabbit, who lent his production and arrangement skills to the track. Also credited on the song is BTS member RM, who is listed as co-writer of the lyrics.
