Louis C.K. has been slammed on social media after mocking school shooting survivors during a recent performance.
The 51-year-old, who is returning to stand-up after acknowledging the sexual harassment allegations of numerous women were true, seemingly poked fun at the Parkland shooting victims after the horrific incident saw 17 kids get killed in February.
The disgraced comedian said in a clip that surfaced on Twitter: “They testify in front of Congress, these kids? What are they doing? You’re young! You should be crazy! You should be unhinged! Not in a suit.”
“You’re not interesting. Because you went to a high school where kids got shot? Why does that mean I have to listen to you? Why does that make you interesting? You didn’t get shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve got to listen to you talking?”
Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jamie was one of the Parkland victims, took to Twitter after news of C.K.’s jokes emerged online to post:
Jim Carrey also took a swipe at C.K. on Twitter, sharing:
C.K., who has been hitting an array of New York comedy clubs, also poked fun at non-binary people in his leaked set.
He said of kids nowadays, “They’re like royalty, they tell you what to call ’em!”
“‘You should address me as they/them. Because I identify as gender neutral,'” C.K. added in a mock voice.
The star then said, “’Okay. You should address me as there,’” because I identify as a location,” insisting the location was their mother’s genitalia.
Unsurprisingly, people had quite a bit to say about C.K.’s appearance on Twitter. See more of the online reaction below.
