As the year ends, Chance the Rapper is revealing he had a heroic moment in 2018.

On New Year’s Eve, the Chicago-based rapper shared some memories of the past year on Instagram Stories, including one in which he tells of pulling an unconscious man out of a burning vehicle during the Easter weekend.

Chance, 25, wrote that he was on his way to church on Easter Sunday when he saw a car going “like 90 [miles per hour]” smash into a wall after exiting a freeway.

“I was the only person out there when it first happened, and his car was on fire so I had to break his window, take off his seatbelt, let his seat back and pull a whole grown man out [of] the car unconscious,” he explained.

“I was only by myself at first, then two older men helped me pull folks out the front after I got the doors open,” he wrote.

However, Chance added that he was “never able to find out if [the] dude was alright,” and asked his 9.3 million Instagram followers for any information about the man that he rescued.

Confirming the power of social media, soon after Chance let fans that he learned some good news about the identified man he saved.

“A kid DM’d me saying it was his uncle and that he lived!!” Chance tweeted.
