This cover band have some serious star power!

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan joined members of Green Day onstage during a special New Year’s Eve performance full of classic covers.

An Instagram fan page dedicated to McKagan posted the video above, which captures the 54-year-old rocker and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong performing the Damned’s “Neat Neat Neat”.

The Coverups — consisting of Armstrong and fellow Green Day member Mike Dirnt, as well as the band’s audio engineer Chris Dugan, tour crew manager Bill Schneider, and touring guitarist Jason White — have played a variety of gigs in the past, with the group reuniting for a few more secret shows this holiday season.

Their concert on December 19 in Albany, New York, featured a festive Chuck Berry cover of “Run Run Rudolf” — posted by Armstrong on his official Instagram page — as well as raucous renditions of classic rock tunes, including “All The Young Dudes” by the late David Bowie, “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin and “Summer Of ’69” by Canadian icon Bryan Adams.

There’s lots to look forward to as a Green Day fan in 2019. The band’s breakthrough album Dookie turns 25, and their rehearsals of the record in its entirety have led fans to speculate that an anniversary tour may be in the works.

Billie has also teased that he’s writing new music for the punk rock outfit, while their politically charged LP-turned-successful Broadway musical American Idiot is reportedly being turned into a film for HBO.
