“Aquaman” is the big fish in the DC pond.
The Jason Momoa-led superhero extravaganza has officially outearned both “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Wonder Woman” at the worldwide box office. That makes “Aquaman” the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe project ever.
“Aquaman” earned $887 million worldwide in a little more than two weeks. It is currently on track to break the celebration-worthy $1 billion mark.
What serves most interesting is how well the underwater epic is performing overseas. 75 per cent of “Aquaman” income was generated internationally. In fact, it is reportedly unlikely the movie will surpass “Batman v Superman” or “Wonder Woman” in domestic sales.
“Aquaman” earned $887 million worldwide against an estimated $160 million to $200 million budget. “Batman v Superman” grossed $873.6 million globally and “Wonder Woman” raked in $821.8 million total.
The latest Warner Bros. superhero release is the sixth instalment int he DCEU. “Aquaman” stars Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, and Nicole Kidman.
