Thomas Markle is once again speaking out about his disappointment that daughter Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have still not made contact with him since their marriage in May 2018.
Speaking with The Sun from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, Markle, 74, continues to claim he’s been cut off by the royals, presumably after he was caught faking paparazzi photos ahead of the royal wedding.
“This whole thing should have been one of the proudest moments of my life,” Markle tells The Sun of his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry.
“Now it’s like a dream that has turned into a nightmare. The royals and Meghan can help end this nightmare by simply giving me a call. To this day, I cannot think of anything I’ve done to deserve how I’m being treated now,” he adds.
“I’ve been a good father, I’ve done nothing wrong,” he continues. “Axe murderers kill 19 people and their daughters still come and visit them in prison. It’s just incomprehensible for Meghan to treat me this way.”
According to Markle, when he was caught red-handed faking the photos after being warned not to cooperate with the paparazzi, Harry told him, “This is what happens when you don’t listen to what we tell you to do.”
However, Markle remains defiant. “I’ll keep talking and I’ll probably get louder. Meghan and Harry’s silence empowers all the crazy tweets and insults against me and my family.”
While he admits he’s made some mistakes, Markle is urging the prince to stop holding a grudge. “Man up and get over it,” he says, addressing Harry. “If I’m the first person who’s insulted you or hurt your feelings, you’ve got a long way to go.”
During the interview, Markle also addresses rumours of a royal rift between Kate Middleton and his daughter, who has reportedly earned the nickname “Duchess Difficult” for her demanding attitude toward royal staffers.
“If there is any animosity between Meghan and Kate they they should put their differences aside. I’m very upset by the criticism Meghan is getting,” he says. “I don’t think she deserves it and I don’t think she is doing one third of the things she is being accused of doing.”
Addressing a report that the Duchess of Sussex once reduced Middleton to tears, Markle says he’s dubious. “I’m not buying that she made Kate cry. First off, I think Kate is a stronger woman than that,” he explains.
“I think Kate also knows she is in a stronger power position than Meghan is. Kate’s the hero mother. I can’t see her being that weak. No woman is who pops out a kid then walks out of hospital the same day,” he continues.
“I don’t think she’s afraid of anyone,” Markle adds. “And I don’t believe that Meghan is trying to hurt her in any shape or form. But at the moment I cannot call Meghan and say ‘What is going on? How can I help you?’ I need to know what the hell is happening and why it is happening. I need to know why she is being bashed every day.”
