Even though they were only on stage for a few minutes, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph managed to make a memorable impression at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards.
While presenting the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama award, the pair poked fun at the actors’ lines.
“Beautiful people have to have someone to talk to,” Rudolph said. “Without supporting actors, where would we get all of the famous lines from our favourite movies? Like, ‘Hey, wait up’,” Poehler added.
After presenting Mahershala Ali with the coveted award for his part in”Green Book”, Rudolph and Poehler continued to make the audience laugh.
The duo stayed on stage a little bit longer to present the award for Best Screenplay and Rudolph took the spotlight from the nominees yet again.
The “Bridesmaids” star jokingly proposed to the 47-year-old “Parks and Recreation” alum, which was a hilarious recreation of when director Glenn Weiss proposed to his girlfriend at the 2018 Emmys.
“God, I can’t believe you’re doing this! Are we stealing focus away from the next award?” Poehler asked the audience.
“Don’t worry,” Rudolph replied. “It’s just Best Screenplay.”
Social media quickly erupted following their on-stage skit, petitioning for the duo to host the 2019 Oscars following Kevin Hart’s departure.
