The PR stunt of the night goes to…
The stars were out for Sunday night’s Golden Globes but the person who made the biggest splash was an unknown woman holding a tray of bottled water.
Dubbed the “Fiji Water Girl” by fans online, the young model, wearing a dazzling blue gown, kept popping up in the background of red carpet photos, often staring directly into the camera.

The woman, later identified as model Kelleth Cuthbert, could be seen holding bottles of Fiji-branded water and giving sultry looks over the shoulders of stars, including Jim Carrey and Idris Elba.

Glamour spoke to Cuthbert about achieving viral fame.
“I do love a good meme, so I think it’s incredibly ironic and funny that I’m one now,” she said. “The first meme of 2019, apparently! My husband is laughing very hard about all of this.”
The meme spread so far, so quickly that even Cuthbert’s parents were in on the joke.
“I called my mom on my break, and she was already laughing when she picked up the phone,” she said. “My parents are not very hip to things going on, so the fact that they had already received this information says a lot about how viral it already went.”
She added, “I definitely think I’m ready for [the fame], but such is the nature of the Internet that these things just go by in a flash. No one will find this funny in a week. We’ll see! I think all of this stuff is very fleeting. I enjoy the craft of acting, but all the other stuff around it is just noise. It’s light and fun, and I think it’s meant to be taken that way. Not too seriously.”
Before the awards ceremony even began, all the internet could talk about was the Fiji Water Girl, with some declaring her the highlight of the Golden Globes.
After becoming an overnight viral sensation, Cuthbert took to Instagram to share a photo from the event, hashtagging herself as #FijiWaterGirl in the caption.
“Cuthbert is a Los Angeles-based model and first-time FIJI Water Brand Ambassador,” said a Fiji Water representative, via CNet.com. According to Time, Fiji has served as the official water brand of the Golden Globe Awards since 2015.
And those thirsty for more Fiji Water Girl need not worry, as the company’s rep stated that “Fiji Water will continue to hydrate more of Hollywood this coming awards season.”
