It’s the battle of award shows.
According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, officials from the Academy reached out to the possible Oscars presenters and their reps to advise that any star that presented at Sunday’s Golden Globes would not be invited to present at the upcoming awards show.
A source revealed that officials at the Globes are upset with the Academy interfering with their process. “They’ve done it for years,” the source says, “but we used to be able to have Dick Clark Productions or NBC smooth things over, so that talent could appear on both telecasts? Not anymore.”
The Globes began their search for talent at the beginning of summer up until the holidays.
The source revealed Margot Robbie is one of those who chose the Oscars over the Globes. The “Black Panther” cast were reportedly “given a pass” since their movie was nominated.
“It’s only going to get worse next year when the Oscars move up their date on the calendar [to Feb. 9, 2020],” the insider added.
This year the Academy Awards air on Sunday, Feb. 24.
