At the ripe old age of 89, Dr. Ruth Westheimer remains a powerhouse, a renowned expert on human sexuality who continues to be a sought-after talk show guest.

Westheimer’s fascinating life is now the subject of a new Hulu documentary, “Ask Dr. Ruth”, which will make its official premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival before coming to U.S. streaming service Hulu at a later date (no premiere date has yet been announced).

“I have an obligation to live large and make a dent in this world,” says Westheimer in a just-released trailer for the documentary from director Ryan White, whose past films include the Serena Williams doc “Serena” and acclaimed Netflix docu-series “The Keepers”.

“‘Ask Dr. Ruth’ chronicles the incredible life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor who became America’s most famous sex therapist,” reads Hulu’s synopsis for the new doc. “With her diminutive frame, thick German accent, and uninhibited approach to sex therapy and education, Dr. Ruth transformed the conversation around sexuality. As she approaches her 90th birthday and shows no signs of slowing down, Dr. Ruth revisits her painful past and unlikely path to a career at the forefront of the sexual revolution.”

Following the release of the trailer, Westheimer took to Twitter to jokingly write that she’s “such an impatient person I wish everyone could see the documentary today but you have to wait.”

“Ask Dr. Ruth” is now in limited release in theatres and is set to premiere on Hulu on 1 June.
