Britney Spears is putting family first.
The “Toxic” popstar is putting her upcoming album on hold while she tends to family matters. Her father, Jamie Spears, suffered a life-threatening ruptured colon late last year.
“Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better,” manager Larry Rudolph said in a statement obtained by ET Canada. “But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin [Tranter]. Right now, she’s taking some time off to deal with these family issues.”
Spears, 37, also postponed her Las Vegas residency at the Park Theatre at Park MGM after her father was hospitalized.
Tranter has been confirmed as the executive producer on Spears’ forthcoming project. He has worked with the likes of Imagine Dragons and Selena Gomez in the past. He told Variety: “I’m beyond excited to be involved,” but refused to dish on the details.
Spears’ milestone 10th album has no set release date but will be distributed through RCA Records.
