Megyn Kelly and NBC have come to terms on her departure from the network.
It was a rough few months for Kelly. “Megyn Kelly Today” was cancelled by NBC News almost three months ago in response to outrage over Kelly’s Halloween blackface remarks.
Now, the two parties have agreed on terms for Kelly’s official exit. “The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee of NBC,” a statement from the company, published by Deadline, reads.
There are very few details known about the agreement. It seems Kelly was given the remainder of her $69 million contract and is free to work with whatever entity she sees fit.
Kelly felt the wrath of social media first hand in late Oct. when she defended wearing blackface to depict a character on Halloween. Her on-air apology was a small BandAid on a much bigger wound. NBC News pulled the plug soon after.
It remains to be seen if a major network plans on picking Kelly up.
